Hola! Pura Vida! I am Michelle! I am a native Costa Rican who was born in the city of Heredia near San Jose. When I moved to the town of Santa Teresa over 15 years ago, I never looked back. Santa Teresa is a magical place, and surfing is its lifeblood. It is my calling and I’m proud to teach this transformative, fun, and empowering sport to anyone who wants to learn it, regardless of their age or abilities. I am ISA and lifeguard certified and I'm a co-founder of the local Surf Association, where we specialize in teaching kids how to surf. Surfing is my passion and my lifestyle, and therefore, I strive to give you an unforgettable experience. Once you’ve stood upon an unbroken wave for a consecutive 3 seconds you will feel like you can do anything. It's an amazing sport that teaches us that life is a beautiful adventure when you go out of your comfort zone and start living the life of your dreams. Beginner Surf Awakening

In this lesson, you'll learn the four fundamentals of surfing: 1. Ocean 2. Mind 3. Body 4. Equipment I'll teach you how to understand each of these things so that you have a strong base to begin your surf journey. Then we'll learn more about safety, paddling, the pop-up, stance, accelerating and decelerating the board, whitewater turns, the flying push-up, the turtle roll, sitting on the board, and turning from sitting.

Intermediate Awareness & Consciousness Lesson

This lesson is a paddling school so you can really learn how to paddle to the outside. You'll then learn the best positioning to catch unbroken waves, how to angle the takeoff, how to remain high on the wave face. You'll start to learn how to do cutbacks and we will go over surf etiquette.

Rehearse Surf Maneuvers

It's time to connect the dots: control speed and power. You'll utilize compression and extension, learn how to have the best cutback on the beach, learn advanced maneuvers like floaters, bottom turns, top turns, taking off on steeper waves. This is the time you can transition to a short board.
